    “Let Go and Move Upwards” - Key meditative statements exercise on “Letting go of the past”

    Article Three – Key meditative statements exercise on “Letting go of the past”

    How would repeating meditative statements help me to let go? Mediation is a practice used to calm and focus one’s mind. Repetition is an exercise used to reinforce a particular thought or habit. A combination of both mediation and repetition not only calm and focus your mind on thoughts and actions that you want to adopt into your conscious and unconscious thinking habits, it will help you to replace all unworthy “junks” you have been carrying within yourself.

    This is the first of the exercises I will share with you in the following weeks to identify and let go of potentially harmful emotions and thoughts you have been filling yourself with.

    Key Thought:

    Holding too tight on what we have in the past or at present,

    we cannot open up to receive other things coming to us.

    Focus on each of the following sentence for 1 min. Repeat the sentence either aloud or in your mind for 10 times before moving on to another sentence. Finally, follow the instructions under “Reflections” and add your own statements. Repeat your “letting go” statements daily until next week’s article.

    Leaving the Past and moving Foward

    LETTING GO

    Today, I will let go. I will stop trying to control everything. I will stop trying to make myself be and do better, and I will let myself be.

    LETTING GO OF FEAR

    Today, I will let go of my big and little guilty feelings. Light and love are on my side.

    LETTING GO OF OLD BELIEFS

    God, help me let go of the messages that drive me into the crazies. I will give myself permission to be who I am and let that be good enough.

    LETTING GO OF THE PAST

    Today, I will let go of my guilt and fear about my past and present circumstances. I will trust that where I have been and where I am now are right for me.

     

    REFLECTION

    This key meditative “Letting Go” statements is crafted as part of the series “Let Go and Move Upwards” articles what will be posted on every Wednesday weekly from now. The meditative statements are adapted from an excellent book on “The Language of Letting Go” by Melody Beatties. This article aims to help us to identify and be aware of how we will naturally response to the need to let go of our past and current (experiences, emotions and choices) in other to move on successfully to another stage of our lives. With awareness, we are able take action to let go and move upwards!
