Journey towards self discovery Part 3 - Feedback or Failure : You decide!

    By Lois Setoh | February 3, 2008

This is the third series to my previous 2 articles – Letting Go and Taking Action.

In the second article – Taking Action, I was sharing that I was caught in a fix over the course of my work. Just 2 days ago, certain things came up that will affect the security of my work.

These things that came up were unexpected and were not within my control. They were external and took me unawares. Initially I felt angry and disturbed by them. Feelings of uncertainty came in too. It was unsettling and I felt uncomfortable.

    Hey, wait a second.

Do I take what has happened now as feedback to the present course of action that I’m taking or do I start to lament and complain about the unfortunate spate of events?

By taking the former stand, it would empower you to forge forward whereas the latter would impede and pull you back. It’s easy to complain and blame but this would create negativity. It will cause you to lose energy which could be channeled to solve the present situation that came up.

Hence, I made up my mind to choose to look upon whatever that has occurred as a feedback. I’m still learning along the way. Choosing not to blame and complain and channeling my energy to resolve the issue. By complaining, the issue will not disappear and I would still be frustrated and angry, so why not choose the better option.

Taking it as a feedback, I will now need to change and revise my present course of action. It’s common in life, what we set out to do may not turn out exactly as we planned. Sometimes, we land very hard on the floor. Perhaps, you have encountered failures through the multiples attempts and are discouraged?

How do we react towards these failures? Do we take it as feedback and use it to refine and improve our strategy so as to bring us closer to the intended result? Or do we take it as a personal failure and the end of the story? Choose to turn it into a feedback to revamp and improve on your present strategies. The failure is hinting that the present strategy is not working well and needs to be changed. Your failures today can be a stepping stone or a stumbling block, the decision lies in your hands.
